Pimcore statistics
Packagist counts Composer installs, not production instances. Even so, the data shows which Pimcore versions are still being installed and how fast Studio is replacing the Classic Admin UI.
- Share of Pimcore 11 in Composer installs, latest recorded month (not complete at retrieval)
- 34.7%
- Share of the yearly version 2026.x in Composer installs, latest recorded month (not complete at retrieval)
- 28.5%
- Composer installs of pimcore/pimcore in the 30 days before retrieval
- 84,273
This page collects Pimcore numbers you can check: how actively each version is installed, how fast Studio UI replaces the Classic Admin UI, how often Pimcore releases and what the vendor itself says about customers and prices. Installation data comes from the public APIs of Packagist and GitHub and is refreshed monthly. Vendor statements are quoted verbatim with their source.
About the key figures above: Packagist counts Composer installs, not productive instances. The shares refer to the daily average in the latest recorded month, and that month was not complete at retrieval. Details are in the method section.

Values: average Composer installs per day within each month (Packagist). Installation activity, not a count of productive instances. * Month not complete at retrieval. As of 2026-09-29.
- In July 2026 pimcore/studio-ui-bundle passed pimcore/admin-ui-classic-bundle in the monthly average for the first time (Packagist, Measured, see the data tables of the charts above).
- Pimcore names 2025.4 as the last platform version with the Classic Admin UI; from 2026.1 on it is removed (Pimcore blog, 2025-12-09, Measured).
- The repository pimcore/admin-ui-classic-bundle is archived on GitHub, last push on 2026-08-12 (GitHub, Measured, checked 2026-10-01).
- According to Pimcore, Studio has been generally available since 2026-04-14 (Pimcore blog, Measured).
- For 2025.4, LTS does not cover Studio: "Pimcore Studio is not part of Platform Version 2025.4 and thus also not part of the LTS promise." (Pimcore blog, 2025-12-09, Measured).
Studio is part of every platform version from 2026.1 on, and Classic can no longer be installed there. The shift therefore mainly reflects the growing share of 2026.x, not a choice between two interfaces.
Generic Data Index and Datahub are in the table for comparison. Datahub has been part of every platform version since 2022.0, Generic Data Index since 2024.1. Generic Data Index is also a required dependency of Studio (pimcore/studio-backend-bundle requires the package), while Datahub is independent of it.

Stable release: every tag without dev, RC, beta or alpha. As of 2026-09-29.
- According to the docs in 2026, a major version comes out once a year ("Released once per year.") and a minor version roughly every quarter ("Released approximately quarterly.") (Pimcore docs, Measured).
- The table counts releases up to the retrieval on 2026-09-29. Core 2026.3.0 from the same day is not yet included (Packagist, Measured).

No guarantee; Pimcore's offer is authoritative. What the list prices and the licence change mean for the choice between Community and Enterprise is covered in Pimcore Enterprise or Community.
- According to the docs, LTS is included only in Enterprise and Enterprise PaaS (Pimcore docs, Measured).
- According to the README of the archived repository, version 2.x of the Classic Admin UI (Pimcore 12) needs an additional perpetual licence when used with the Community Edition, quoted at "a price of €1,480" (GitHub, README, Measured, checked 2026-10-01).
- According to the same README, usage is included in Professional and Enterprise.
- Version 1.x for Pimcore 11 is GPLv3 according to its package metadata and is not affected (Packagist, Measured).
- Pimcore sales confirms the current price.
The revenue threshold of the Pimcore Open Core License is quoted verbatim on Pimcore versions, support and end of life.
Akeneo Community Edition for comparison
Like Pimcore, Akeneo offers a self-hosted Community Edition with public source code. For context, as of 2026-10-01:
- The Community Edition is still being released: v2026.3 on 2026-03-30 and v2026.4 on 2026-08-28 (GitHub releases, Measured).
- It is licensed under OSL-3.0 (composer.json v2026.4, Measured).
- Support for Akeneo 7 ended on 2026-09-30. According to Akeneo, Community Edition users get fixes by upgrading to a newer release (Akeneo Help Center, Measured).
- Akeneo no longer releases new PaaS or on-premise versions: "we will not be releasing any new versions of our PaaS (Flexibility) and on-premise offerings" (Akeneo blog, 2024-03-26, Measured). This concerns the enterprise offerings; the Community Edition continues to be released.
The numbers show activity in the open repository. They say nothing about market share, and Akeneo's SaaS product is not visible in them.

All values Measured through the public APIs of GitHub and Packagist. The comparison values for pimcore/pimcore are in the key figures table. The retrieval dates differ: Akeneo 2026-10-01, pimcore/pimcore 2026-09-29.
Method
- Packagist counts every Composer install of a package, including for example CI runs and Docker builds. The numbers show installation activity and work for comparing versions with each other. They are not a count of productive instances or customers.
- Monthly values are daily averages within each month (Packagist, average=monthly). The month of retrieval is never complete and is marked with an asterisk in the tables. This also applies to the shares in the key figures block above.
- The share of a major version is its daily average divided by the sum of all major versions in the same month.
- A stable release is every tag without dev, RC, beta or alpha.
- GitHub values are snapshots at retrieval time. The contributor count includes anonymous contributions.
- Vendor statements, prices and the Akeneo values are curated, stored with their primary source and check date, and labelled Measured or User-provided.
- Installation data is retrieved again on the 2nd of every month. Date and change are listed under Changes. Frequently asked questions
How many companies use Pimcore?
Pimcore states more than 118,000 companies in 75 countries (pimcore.com, About us, retrieved 2026-10-01). The vendor publishes no methodology for this, and there is no independent count. In August 2026 Pimcore also named more than 120,000 installations and over 400 enterprise customers. The Packagist numbers on this page measure installs of code, not companies.
How much does Pimcore Enterprise cost?
According to the pricing page, the Enterprise Edition costs USD 29,900 per year and the Professional Edition USD 9,900 per year (retrieved 2026-10-01). Pimcore gives no list price for Enterprise PaaS. LTS is included only in Enterprise and Enterprise PaaS.
What replaces the Classic Admin UI?
Pimcore Studio. On 2026-04-14 Pimcore declared Studio generally available for platform versions 2025.4 and 2026.1. The Classic Admin UI is removed from 2026.1 on, and 2025.4 is the last version on which both run side by side. LTS for 2025.4 does not cover Studio, though. What a move involves is described under Studio migration.
